Heavy Duty Linear Rails
Heavy Duty Linear Rails

The roller guide in heavy duty linear rails can cover most conventional linear motion scenarios. But in large CNC machining centers, hydraulic transmission mechanisms, heavy duty gantry cranes, forging auxiliary equipment and other situations that require 24h continuous operation, the load often approaches the design limit.

For such harsh working conditions, the Hualong HRG series provides true heavy duty linear rails, using cylindrical rollers and four way raceway structure, which can sustainably withstand peak loads within the rated range. Under continuous heavy load conditions, ordinary ball guides usually wear out and fail within a few weeks.

HRG replaces ball bearings with cylindrical rollers, transforming point contact into line contact and increasing load bearing capacity. Under the same installation size, internal test data shows that the rated dynamic load is 1.5 to 2 times that of ball guides of the same size.

If your equipment involves heavy overhanging spindles, large eccentric force cutting, or handling loads of several tons, this type of heavy duty linear rails has been widely used in continuous heavy duty industrial scenarios.

HRG body structure

Whether a set of heavy duty linear rails can run for a long time under heavy load conditions depends on how the rolling, lubrication, and dust prevention systems are matched. The Hualong HRG series has optimized every aspect by breaking it down:

Rolling cycle system: slider, guide rail, end cover, reflux module, roller

Lubrication system: oil nozzle, oil pipe joint

Dust prevention system: oil scraper, Bottom dust sealing and dust proof sheet, guide rail bolt cover, metal scraper

Highlights of Linear Guides

Cylindrical rollers with ultra high load bearing density and linear contact

HRG linear guide replaces ball bearings with roller type rolling elements, and the rollers, guide rails, and sliders are in linear contact, which can achieve higher load bearing density. The load can be evenly distributed on longer raceway contact surfaces, significantly reducing Hertz contact stress and prolonging service life. Under the same installation cross sectional size, the dynamic rated load of roller linear guides is 2 to 3 times higher than that of ball guides, and the increase in static rated load is greater.

01

High stiffness under combined load and moment load

In heavy duty machining conditions, the force borne by the guide rail is rarely a clean radial vector. Tool overhang, workpiece eccentricity and self weight, start stop acceleration, etc. can all generate torque loads attempting to shake the bracket, which can easily cause slider displacement and attitude shaking. Compared to ball point contact, roller line contact is better at resisting torque deflection and maintaining the posture and position accuracy of the slider under stable composite load conditions. Therefore, large gantry machining centers and heavy duty bridge cutting machines prioritize the use of roller linear guides.

02

45 ° contact angle raceway, achieving four way equal load bearing

HRG adopts a 45 ° contact angle raceway structure, which can simultaneously withstand radial, anti radial, and lateral loads, provides equal rigidity and load capacity in all four directions. Compared with traditional roller guides, HRG maintains balanced load in all directions, with no preferred installation direction and no need for additional slider posture calibration and leveling processes.

03

Anti detachment roller retaining structure

Rollers are heavier than steel balls, and if they fall or bounce during disassembly, it can easily cause damage to the guide rail and raceway. Hualong's fixed mechanism can lock the roller position during the entire disassembly process, prevents roller drop off and related damage, while shortening the maintenance time for large scale maintenance.

04

Heavy industrial sealing configuration

HRG's dual lip seal and metal scraper are designed specifically for heavy duty CNC machine tools in environments with chip and coolant saturation. The standard sealing configuration can adapt to the majority of open machining center environments without the need for external covers or corrugated pipes.

Precautions for installation of linear guide rail

Heavy Duty Linear Rails
01.

Installation face shoulder height and chamfer

When installing linear guides, it is necessary to pay attention to the condition of the shoulder of the installation surface. If the chamfer is too large and the protruding area is prone to poor accuracy of the linear guide, and if the height is too high, it will interfere with the slider. Therefore, if the shoulder of the installation surface can be installed according to the recommended requirements, poor installation accuracy can be eliminated.

02.

Torque value of guide rail assembly screws

Whether the guide rail is locked tightly against the flat reference plane during installation has a significant impact on the accuracy of the linear guide rail. Therefore, in order to achieve the goal of locking each screw, it is recommended to use the following torque values to lock the assembly screws.

The advantages of Hualong linear guide rail

Low fatigue accumulation under rated load conditions
When selecting heavy duty linear guides for large machines, design engineers should focus on whether the guides can maintain long term precision stability. But the question is whether the guide rail can maintain its accuracy for many years under continuous load. Compared to ball guides, the HRG series has lower contact stress under rated load, resulting in slower fatigue accumulation and longer L10 life.

Heavy Duty Linear Rails Advantages
Wide size range of different payload levels

HRG 25 to HRG 65 are suitable for various working conditions of heavy workpiece processing equipment ranging from 2 ton components to 20 ton and above. The installation benchmark dimensions for each specification are unified, so machine manufacturers upgrading from balls to rollers do not need to redesign the frame layout, saving redesign costs.

Heavy Duty Linear Rails Advantages
H and HH carriage length options

Each HRG size is available in standard (H) and extended (HH) versions. Longer brackets increase the moment stiffness proportionally to resist lateral forces from heavy suspension shafts or long distance fixture components, which can more effectively resist lateral overturning forces caused by heavy suspension shafts and long stroke fixture components, and adapt to higher load requirements.

Heavy Duty Linear Rails Advantages
Compete with imported roller guide brands

European and Japanese brands of ball linear guides have significant distributor premiums due to the numerous distribution links, resulting in significant distributor overflow. Hualong's direct production and transportation have reduced the landed cost by 20 to 40% compared to the same performance specifications.

FAQ

Q1: What are the core advantages of roller guides over ball guides in heavy duty applications?

A:Cylindrical rollers make line contact with the raceway, which reduces Hertz contact stress significantly under the same load. Under the same load, it can reduce Hertz contact stress by about an order of magnitude. This makes the dynamic and static bearing capacity of the roller guide higher, the torque stiffness better, and the fatigue life of L10 longer in high load continuous cycle operation.

Q2: Can I replace the existing ball guide with HRG roller guide without modifying the machine?

A: The installation dimensions of HRG guide rails have been standardized and are compatible with the installation dimensions of ball guides of the same specifications. In most cases, direct replacement is possible. Check bolt pattern and rail height before ordering It is recommended to verify the bolt style and track height before placing an order. Our engineering team can provide free assistance in conducting size checks.

Q3: Are HRG rails suitable for high speed applications?

A: HRG guide rail is mainly optimized for high load and medium speed operation scenarios. It is recommended to have a maximum operating speed of 1 to 2m/s, which needs to be adjusted according to the size of the guide rail and lubrication configuration. If speed is your main concern and the load is within ball guide ratings, stick with HGH ball series. If you need both high load and moderate speed, HRG is the better choice.

Q4: What lubrication does HRG need and how often?

A: The HRG guide rail is pre lubricated with high load lithium composite grease before leaving the factory. The lubrication interval should be determined based on the load, operating speed, and usage environment. Under standard operating conditions, lubrication is usually performed every 500 to 1000 working hours. Equipment with high working cycles can be lubricated with oil through a centralized lubrication system and integrated oil nozzles on guide rails. If you need lubrication interval recommendations for specific scenarios, you can contact our application team.

Q5: What is the difference between HRG H and HRG HH sliders with the same track size?

A: The roller circulation loop of the HRG HH elongated slider is longer, with a larger contact area with the track, which can significantly improve the moment stiffness (including pitch, yaw, and roll directions). If the load has a large overhang relative to the installation span of the slider, or if the machine design requires the guide rail to resist a large off axis torque, it is recommended to choose the HH type; If the device is designed to be compact and the load is concentrated in the center position, a standard H shaped slider can meet the requirements.
